Pricewaterhouse Coopers can’t be blamed for an earlier error at the Academy Awards — showing a live person’s image during the In Memoriam tribute to the recently deceased.

“I am alive and well and an active producer,” Chapman wrote to Variety. “I was devastated by the use of my image in place of my great friend and longtime collaborator.”
Variety said Chapman is one of Australia’s best-known producers with credits including “Lantana,” “Holy Smoke” and “The Last Days of Chez Nous.” She was married to director Philip Noyce in the 1970s. To confuse matters further, Patterson and Chapman worked together on “The Piano.”
The Washington Post explained: “The confusion appears to stem from a 2010 photo of Chapman accepting an Australian award, which is sold for reproduction with a caption misidentifying her as Patterson.”
