For the first time since perhaps the 1930s, Doris Day is celebrating her birthday with the right number of candles on the cake.

Doris Mary Ann Kappelhoff, her pre-film-and-singing-career name, was born to Alma and William Kappelhoff of Cincinnati on April 3, 1922.
“I’ve always said that age is just a number,” Day said in a statement Sunday. “I have never paid much attention to birthdays, but it’s great to finally know how old I really am!”
Day’s spokesman, Charley Cullen Walters, told The Associated Press: “There has long been speculation and rumors about Doris’s age and we get this question a lot; looks like we finally have the answer.
“The story I have heard the most is that at one point Doris was up for a role when quite young and her age may have been miswritten on the audition form. We don’t know if that’s correct, but if so it could’ve simply stuck for all these years.”
The Los Angeles Times noted the Doris Day Animal Foundation is celebrating Day’s birthday with a social media event encouraging pet owners to post pictures of their pets with the hashtag #DorisBirthdayWish, though the group’s the website was still touting Day as turning 93.

It's #DorisDay 's birthday, and no one has proclaimed it "Doris Day Day" or even "Doris Day", and I think that's just wrong.
