News outlets speculate over reasons for the split, including a clash of cultures. Debate exploded over a possible prenuptial agreement that gives her $500 million.

“She thought he had become too controlling during the pregnancy and she had already allowed him to dictate her appearance and even the way she performed at concerts,” a source, “who works closely with the couple,” told Page Six.

Said the Daily Mail in Britain: “While Janet is keen to be a hands-on mother, Wissam, a wealthy businessman with £800 million to his name, has strict views on how his son should be brought up, and has hired round-the-clock staff to wait on his wife and child in their Belgravia home.

“The baby has never been seen in public, and Janet was reportedly forbidden from leaving the house while she was nursing.”

The Daily Mail said the last straw was the billionaire Qatari businessman’s reluctance to show concern for elder abuse claims by Jackson’s mother, Katherine, against her nephew Trent.

“That’s when Janet made her decision that there was no turning back,” the source said. “She was worried about her mother — and Wissam showed little to no concern.”
