Congressman Joe Wilson of South Carolina wasn’t much known around the country until 2009, when he shouted “You lie!” at President Obama. Now he’s hearing echoes of that rudeness.

Attendees at a question-and-answer session at Aiken Technical College in Graniteville, South Carolina, gave [the Republican] Wilson a rough reception,” noted the Huffington Post.

“When the lawmaker, who voted against extending the Violence Against Women Act in 2013, claimed he’d worked to prevent violence against women, audience members chanted You lie!’ They did it again when he tried to outline problems with the Affordable Care Act.”

HuffPo noted that the House rebuked Wilson for his outburst in 2009, approving a resolution that said he’d committed a “breach of decorum and degraded the proceedings of the joint session, to the discredit of the House.”

The Post and Courier added: “Wilson stayed for nearly an hour after the event, passing out his card and answering more questions. He said he plans to hold more town halls, saying he was disappointed the event was held during spring break for many Columbia-area residents.”

“I always learn a lot,” he said of the town halls.
