Jennifer Garner Thursday filed for divorce from Ben Affleck, nearly two years after the actors first revealed their marriage was on the rocks.
Garner’s Los Angeles Superior Court petition was filed simultaneously with Affleck’s response. Both seek joint legal and physical custody of their three children, Violet, 11, Seraphina, 8, and Samuel, 5.
The actors, both 44, married in June 2005 and in June 2015 announced their intention to divorce, but continued to live in the same home and take family vacations.
Affleck announced last month he had completed a stint in rehab for alcohol addiction and was “lucky to have the love of my family and friends, including my co-parent, Jen, who has supported me and cared for our kids as I’ve done the work I set out to do.”
The marriage was the second for Garner and the first for Affleck, who had previous high-profile relationships with actresses Gwyneth Paltrow and Jennifer Lopez.
