The statute of limitations never runs out on calling out jerks. Three decades have passed, and Katie Couric recalls men in earlier TV newsrooms commenting on her chest size.
Couric — who worked at all three major networks before landing with Yahoo — said boorish behavior was a bigger problem in the ‘70s when she was starting out in television news, reports the New York Daily News.
“People didn’t understand it was a new era for women in television news and I think it was kind of a ‘Mad Men’ situation back in the day, even though it was later than ‘Mad Men.’”
And it was worse than just being made to fetch coffee, the 60-year-old told the paper.
“Oh, that’s like child’s play compared to some of the comments made,” she said. “Yeah of course I was asked to get coffee, that to me is no big whoop. I think when they comment on your breast size — that’s a problem.”
Asked if she’s had that happen, Couric said: “Yeah, sure.”
She didn’t name the jerks involved.
