A team of stars of prime-time soap operas will face cast members from ABC series from the 1970s to 1990s on the fourth episode of “Battle of the Network Stars” airing at 9 Thursday evening on ABC.

The team of prime-time soap stars consists of “Beverly Hills, 90210” castmates Gabrielle Carteris and Ian Ziering; Donna Mills (“Knots Landing); Mischa Barton (The O.C.”); and Josh Henderson (“Dallas”). Their coach is retired NFL outside linebacker and defensive end DeMarcus Ware.

“DeMarcus was great to work with,” Carteris told City News Service. “In his strategy — even when we were down in numbers — he tried to find ways to out maneuver the opposition — all while making me laugh.”

“The Wonder Years” castmates Olivia d’abo and Jason Hervey are on the ABC Stars team along with Anson Williams (“Happy Days”), Michael Fishman (“Roseanne”) and Shari Belafonte (“Hotel”). It is coached by MMA champion and Olympic judo bronze medalist Ronda Rousey.

Mills, d’abo and Belafonte all appeared on the original version of “Battle of the Network Stars,” which ran as a series of specials on ABC from 1976-88, which like the new version, was conducted at Pepperdine University in Malibu.

To Carteris, competing on “Battle of the Network Stars” was “her victory dance” after being injured while filming a made-for-television movie.

“It was challenging and exciting for me to participate in a way I thought would never be possible,” Carteris said. “That was my win.”

Carteris said she “never laughed so hard,” as she did when competing on “Battle of the Network Stars.”
