During his profitable “Russia Week,” Stephen Colbert told how he worried aloud to his executive producer, Chris Licht, that a Moscow trip would be dated by the time they aired segments.

The audience howled.

Now that “The Late Show” host is producing a half-hour animated series on President Trump for Showtime, the same question can be asked: Will it still be relevant?

Showtime has little doubt the 10 episodes ordered will be a moneymaker for the CBS-owned pay-TV channel.

“The fresh, cutting-edge comedy will present the truish adventures of Trump’s confidants and bon vivants — family, top associates, heads of government, golf pros and anyone else straying into his orbit — intrepidly exploring their histories and their psyches, revealing insights into what makes them so definitively Trumpian,” Showtime said in a 680-word press release.

David Nevins, president and CEO of Showtime Networks Inc., added: “Stephen and Chris have an uncanny genius for deconstructing the world of President Trump, and this series opens a new realm for them. Their vision will produce a comedy that makes waves, gets attention and plays great on our networks, including our streaming service.”

Streaming or screaming?

Not everyone is happy in Trump Nation.
