Bonnie Tyler is cashing in on moon-eats-sun. The Welsh singer is seeing her 1983 hit “Total Eclipse of the Heart” gain total attention.
iTunes was reporting Tyler’s song as No. 1 Monday.
“Tyler surpassed Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee and Justin Bieber’s inescapable hit, ‘Despacito, to nab the top spot,” AOL reported.
Not one to leave a moment darkened, Tyler performed “Total Eclipse” on Royal Caribbean’s Total Eclipse Cruise off Florida.
“The Oasis of the Seas ship will be positioned in the path of totality for the performance, just as the moon moves across the sun, Time reports.”
“It’s going to be so exciting,” Tyler told Time. “It doesn’t happen very often, does it?”
“She never had a hit that big again, though ‘Holding Out for a Hero’ from the Footloose soundtrack got a lot of radio love the following year. But ‘Total Eclipse of the Heart’ has never really gone away, becoming one of the most beloved pop songs of the entire 1980s,” said Rolling Stone.

Can we all take a moment to appreciate Bonnie Tyler if it wasn’t for her we wouldn’t even have eclipses
