Harvard snagged another big name from the world of political elites: The older daughter of former President Obama and first lady Michelle Obama moved in to her dorm as her famous parents were on hand to help their excited new first-year university student.
It wasn’t quite a “normal” scene as Secret Service agents were on hand with the former first family. And, of course, there were those reporters from various media outlets

“When a Globe reporter walked up and asked for an interview, Malia declined, saying ‘I can’t,’ but politely returned a handshake,” the Boston newspaper reported from adjacent Cambridge.
“She appeared again later, hamming it up with people as she clutched a folded up, neon green bag in her arms. Then she slipped back inside the building, made an apparent wardrobe change, and headed back outside again.”
So it went as the most famous member of the Class of 2021 returned to school Monday after a gap year.
The 19-year-old former first daughter spent her year off “interning for the HBO show ‘Girls’ and also worked as an intern in New York for The Weinstein Company, the film and TV production company founded by Harvey and Bob Weinstein,” noted the New York Daily News.
Malia follows her parents to Harvard. Barack and Michelle are graduates of Harvard Law School. But no word yet on what Malia’s major will be.
