Actor Blake Heron, who gained fame as a teen starring in the 1996 movie “Shiloh,” has been found dead at his home in La Crescenta, where he may have suffered a fatal drug overdose.
In addition to “Shiloh,” Heron also appeared on such television series as “NCIS: New Orleans,” “ER” and “The Practice.”
The 35-year-old was found by a friend and was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:49 a.m. Friday, according to coroner’s Assistant Chief Ed Winter.
Without naming Heron, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reported that deputies from the Crescenta Valley Station responded about 7:05 a.m. to a call of a person not breathing at a home in the 3000 block of Alabama Street.

They found a 35-year-old man “who appeared to be suffering from an apparent overdose of an illicit narcotic substance,” according to a sheriff’s department statement.
The deputies attempted lifesaving measures and administered Narcan spray in an unsuccessful attempt to revive the man. Paramedics arrived and also tried to save him, the sheriff’s department reported.
Heron was reported to have been battling the flu for the past few days, but an autopsy to determine his cause of death was pending, Winter said.
According to TMZ, Heron had past struggles with drug addiction.
