Eagles of Death Metal at the Bataclan in Paris. Ariana Grande in Manchester, England.
Now Jason Aldean in Las Vegas.
The nightmarish massacre at a concert across from the Mandalay Bay Hotel will for a long time haunt the mention of Jason Aldean.
“In videos, you can see the moment between when gunfire began raining down on the Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas on Sunday night and when the reality of the tragedy began to become clear,” said The Atlantic.
“Aldean, playing the final set of the festival, had just commenced ‘When She Says Baby.’ Right before he started singing, the staccato popping of gunfire began. Aldean got out the first few lines — “Some days it’s tough just gettin’ up / Throwin’ on these boots and makin’ that climb” — before ending the music and running off stage.”
Posting on Instagram, the 40-year-old country western star said: “Tonight has been beyond horrific. I still don’t know what to say but wanted to let everyone know that me and my crew are safe. My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone involved tonight. It hurts my heart that this would happen to anyone who was just coming out to enjoy what should have been a fun night.”
He added: #heartbroken #stopthehate
Five months after her own concert tragedy, Grande tweeted: “My heart is breaking for Las Vegas. We need love, unity, peace, gun control & for people to look at this & call this what it is = terrorism.”
