That curious declaration came on “The Late Show” Monday night as former “Daily Show” host Stewart made an appearance in a skit aiming to give the president “equal time.”

The piece was a response to Trump’s recent tweets that criticized “unfunny” late-night hosts for being “anti-Trump” and not offering “equal time,” as The Hollywood Reporter noted.

Trump tweeted: “Late Night hosts are dealing with the Democrats for their very ‘unfunny’ and repetitive material, always anti-Trump! Should we get equal time?”

Colbert responded: “No. You’re the president. We make fun of you. But we’re going to do it anyway, just to make you feel better, sir. I will now be joined by another host, licensed in ‘unfunny.’ And that host will offer balance to whatever I say about the president.”

Then Stewart came on, wearing a T-shirt and a nervous look.

Colbert starts out: “Donald Trump thinks we should give equal time on a comedy show, even though the election is over. Kind of like if ‘The Big Bang Theory’ was immediately followed by ‘The Creationist Bazinga Fun Time Hour,’ starring Jesus and his roommate a T-Rex. Look out for the spinoff, ‘Young Jesus.’”

Stewart was invited to make a positive spin.

After some delay and fumbling, Stewart said: “Donald Trump is not a cannibal.”

The skit ended the same way, this time with Colbert affirming that the Leader of the Free World does not eat his fellow man.

Affirmations and denials followed:
