KFC’s Twitter feed has 1.23 million followers but itself follows only 11 people, including Los Angeles City Council President Herb Wesson. Now we know why.
“On Thursday, Twitter user @edgette22 realized KFC’s official Twitter account only follows 11 people: the five former members of Spice Girls, and six men named Herb. The only possible (and sneaky) reason? The fast food chain’s fried chicken recipe consists of 11 herbs and spices,” said People magazine.
The original-flavored tweet had 572,000 likes and 258,000 retweets as of 2 p.m. Friday.

On Friday, AdWeek spilled the crispy beans.
KFC and its ad agency were hoping for this result.
“We planted this on Twitter over a month ago,” said Freddie Powell, creative director at Wieden+Kennedy. “Frankly, we weren’t sure if anybody was going to find it. Sometimes you just have to put stuff out into the universe and cross your fingers that the internet will work its magic.”
.@KFC follows 11 people.
Those 11 people? 5 Spice Girls and 6 guys named Herb.
