Elton John is mourning the death of his mother not long after patching up a rift with her dating to 2008.
“So sad to say that my mother passed away this morning,” John said of Sheila Farebrother, 92. “I only saw her last Monday and I am in shock. Travel safe Mum. Thank you for everything.”

Cause of death was not immediately disclosed.
But British and American tabloids and gossip sites detailed their split, which was patched up last year.
“Their troubles allegedly began after John told his mother to cut off contact with two of their friends, Bob Halley and John Reid, after a falling out,” said E Online.
Farebrother is quotedin the The Daily Telegraph two years ago: “I told him, ‘I’m not about to do that and drop them. Bob is like a son to me. He has always been marvelous to me and he lives nearby and keeps an eye on me.’ Then to my utter amazement, he told me he hated me. He then banged the phone down. Imagine! To me, his mother!”
The Sun said: “Elton … failed to show up to his stepfather’s funeral in 2010 and Sheila furthered the feud by hiring an Elton John tribute act for her 90th birthday party.”
