A Cathedral City man accused of child molestation was in custody Tuesday in lieu of $55,000 bail.
Ismael Gaspar, 35, was arrested Monday evening by deputies from the Palm Desert sheriff’s station, according to jail records.

INDIO (CNS) – One of four men charged with breaking into a Palm Springs pharmacy after hours and stealing prescription medication pleaded guilty Tuesday to felony counts of burglary, grand theft and transporting drugs across county lines.
A sentencing date was not immediately set for Marcus Fantroy II, 29, of Whittier, who admitted breaking into the pharmacy in the 1700 block of East Vista Chino on Sept. 20, 2017.

PALM SPRINGS (CNS) – The estate of a man who died about a week after being struck by a falling tree at a Palm Springs golf resort is suing the course’s owners, as well as the city of Palm Springs.
David Hamaker, 71, of Black Butte Ranch, Oregon, was struck by a tree while sitting in a golf cart near the 17th hole of the Tahquitz Creek Golf Resort on March 30, 2017.

DESERT HOT SPRINGS (CNS) – A Desert Hot Springs woman who disappeared from her home was being sought Tuesday by police.
Evelis Alfaro, 60, was last seen around 11 p.m. Monday at her rsidencee in the 11500 block of Cactus Drive.

RIVERSIDE (CNS) – The Riverside County Board of Supervisors Tuesday approved a 10-month extension of a temporary ordinance prohibiting the industrial cultivation of hemp in unincorporated areas for public safety reasons.
One month ago, the board approved the prohibition as an urgency item. The urgency provision was set to expire next week, when the board will not be in session, so the 5-0 vote implementing the extension was necessary to prevent the interim ordinance from timing out, which the Office of County Counsel and the Office of the Agricultural Commissioner advised against.

THOUSAND PALMS (CNS) – A man allegedly found with 12 dead dogs inside a stolen truck in Thousand Palms last month is facing a dozen felony animal cruelty counts.
Douglas John Yates, 55, is also charged with one count of receiving stolen property in connection with his Feb. 15 arrest on Varner Road.

CORONA (CNS) – Corona police investigators Tuesday were attempting to sort out what happened to a woman and a toddler found dead in a home on the northern edge of the city.
Detective Andy Bryant said the victims, whose names and ages were not disclosed, may have died in a murder-suicide, though nothing has been confirmed.

RIVERSIDE (CNS) – The Board of Supervisors Tuesday authorized Riverside County Sheriff Stan Sniff to acquire a 40-foot inmate transportation bus, outfitted with sophisticated camera gear and security mechanisms, for $650,656.
The board voted 5-0, without comment, to allow the sheriff to complete the purchase of the Motor Coach Industries vehicle for delivery in the current fiscal year.

RIVERSIDE (CNS) – An environmental group Tuesday filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration, alleging failures by federal agencies to formally establish plans for the preservation of waterways in Riverside County and other California locations that Congress designated as “wild and scenic.”
Officials with the Tucson, Arizona-based Center for Biological Diversity said the suit filed in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles is needed to spur the U.S. Bureau of Land Management and the Forest Service to produce management plans required under the Wild & Scenic Rivers Act.

RIVERSIDE (CNS) – Riverside County supervisors signed off Tuesday on an agreement with a Sacramento-based aviation services firm to assist the Economic Development Agency in implementing plans to mitigate wild animal incursions at French Valley, Hemet-Ryan and Thermal airports.
The $60,000 contract with Mead & Hunt, which the county has retained for similar work over the years, is intended to establish Wildlife Hazard Management plans for each of the county-owned and operated airfields.

RIVERSIDE (CNS) – The Board of Supervisors Tuesday directed the Riverside County Department of Human Resources to begin the process of revising policies and recruitment literature to clearly reflect that the county affirms “fairness and equity” in salary formulas.
Supervisor V. Manuel Perez requested the action based on concerns that a lack of specific language referencing pay equity could expose the county to accusations of permitting disparities in wages and benefits based on gender.

THERMAL (CNS) – Charges are expected to be filed Wednesday against a Thermal man accused of killing a man whose body was found lying near a drainage channel last week.
Saul Mayoral, 50, remains held on suspicion of murder in connection with the body of a man found Friday morning in the 87800 block of Avenue 52.

RIVERSIDE (CNS) – A 23-year-old partially blind and mentally disabled Riverside County woman who went missing in Paramount more than a week ago has been found, authorities reported Tuesday.
Adriana deJesus had last been seen about 10 a.m. March 19 walking away from a coffee shop in the 1600 block of Paramount Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
