Actress Tyne Daly is asking a court to appoint a new trustee for her family trust in the wake of the death nine years ago of the last person to fill the role.
The former “Cagney & Lacey” star filed her petition Tuesday in Los Angeles Superior Court. According to her court papers, the initial sole trustee, Arthur Becker, died in 2009, leaving the sole successor trustee as City National Bank.
“When he died in 2009, no one focused on the need for a successor trustee for the trust,” Daly’s court papers state.
Daly’s three daughters, Alisabeth, Kathryne and Alyxandra Brown, have nominated Glenn Wallace, Daly’s current business manager and accountant, as the new trustee,. Becker had served in the same roles for Daly before he died. A hearing on Daly’s petition, which seeks to carry out her daughters’ nominee selection, is scheduled for July 3.
The family trust is called the Georg Brown and Tyne Daly Brown 1988 Insurance Trust and was created in November 1988 when Daly was wed to actor Georg Stanford Brown. The marriage lasted from 1966-90 and all three daughters were born during their relationship.
Daly, 72, is known for her role as Detective Mary Beth Lacey in “Cagney & Lacey,” which made her a four-time Emmy Award winner as outstanding lead actress in a drama series. In 1989, she starred in the Broadway revival of “Gypsy” and won the 1990 Tony Award for best actress in a musical.
