Disney Studios continued its summer domination of the North American movie trade, as “Incredibles 2” opened with what one analyst called a “stunning $180 million opening weekend performance.”
“The biggest-ever debut for an animated film, and the best ever opening in Pixar’s illustrious history,” gushed comScore’s Paul Dergarabedian.
He said “Incredibles 2” was also:
— the eighth all-time industry debut,
— the largest debut ever for a PG-rated film,
— the second biggest June opening ever, and
— the third biggest debut of 2018.
