Seven was the lucky number for Spider-Man Saturday evening at the 46th annual Annie Awards ceremony held Saturday evening at UCLA’s Royce Hall, as the film “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” took all seven of the categories for which it was nominated.
Special awards were handed out at the event, with three honorees — Academy Award-winning director, animator and art director Ralph Eggleston; the late Frank Braxton, the first black animator; and animation, casting, voice director and voice actress Andrea Romano — recognized for their contributions to animation.
Late animator Adam Burke, who worked on such Pixar features as “The Incredibles,” “Cars” and “Wall-E.” and Dutch software developer and film producer Ton Roosendaal were recognized.
