A man and woman died Saturday in a crash on a Santa Ana (5) Freeway off-ramp in Downey and dashcam video led authorities to a suspect, who was arrested.

The crash was reported at 2:41 p.m. on the Paramount Boulevard off-ramp of the southbound Santa Ana Freeway, said California Highway Patrol Officer Elizabeth Kravig.

The vehicle went down an embankment, she said.

Video from a dashcam on another car showed a white vehicle rear-ending a red car, which veered out of control and down an embankment, according to KTLA5. Downey police found the white car in the area of Florence Avenue and Studebaker Road, and the driver was arrested on suspicion of hit-and-run. There was no immediate information about that driver.

A SigAlert was issued at 2:50 p.m., shutting down the off-ramp. The ramp was reopened at 7 p.m.
