An actor on “S.W.A.T.” is suing Sony Pictures Television Inc. after he was hurt while shooting a scene involving a helicopter on the CBS series in 2018, although his precise injuries are not specified in the complaint.
Kenny Johnson, 56, brought the lawsuit Monday in Los Angeles Superior Court against Sony, one of the show’s producers, and a Sony subsidiary, Topanga Productions Inc. The suit alleges negligence, ultrahazardous activity and peculiar risk. His wife, Cathleen, is suing for loss of consortium.
The suit seeks unspecified damages. A Sony representative did not immediately reply to a request for comment.
Johnson was on the set on July 18, 2018, and was involved in filming a scene in which he was to simulate being pulled through the air while hanging onto the landing gear of a helicopter, the suit states.
The actor was “unreasonably exposed to danger and injury while lawfully on said premises and while filming the … scene,” the suit states.
Johnson was hurt in his “health, strength and activity” and also sustained shock and injury to his nervous system, according to the complaint.
Johnson was healthy and in good physical shape before the incident, the suit states.
Cathleen Johnson has been deprived of the love, affection and companionship she had with her husband, the suit alleges.
