Only the No. 1 lane of the westbound Pomona (60) Freeway in Montebello was open Tuesday morning as authorities worked to clear the wreckage of a semi truck that crashed with a mini van and overturned.
The accident occurred about 9:25 p.m. Monday near the Garfield Avenue exit, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Firefighters were able to free the big rig driver from the wreckage after about an hour, according to multiple broadcast reports.
The Nos. 2, 3 and 4 westbound lanes of the freeway were blocked until further notice, and traffic was being taken off the freeway at Paramount Boulevard.
Details of what led to the crash were not immediately available.
