A 20-year-old man who was killed in a fiery, single-vehicle crash on the Hollywood (101) Freeway near Universal Studios was identified Thursday by county authorities.
The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner’s office identified the victim as Layton Berrios, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash occurred at about 4:40 a.m. Sunday on the southbound freeway at Universal Studios Boulevard, the California Highway Patrol reported.
A white sedan struck a concrete barrier on the right shoulder of the freeway and caught fire, the CHP said.
A SigAlert was issued at 5:52 a.m. for the southbound 101 Freeway at the Universal Studios as the CHP investigated the cause of the crash.
