Jeff Baena, the 47-year-old independent filmmaker whose writing credits include “I Heart Huckabees,” “The Little Hours” and “Life After Beth,” has died at the age of 47.
Baena died Friday at his home in Los Angeles. His cause of death has not been officially released, but TMZ reported that it was a suicide, citing unnamed law enforcement sources. Baena’s body was discovered by an assistant, the outlet reported.
Baena co-wrote 2004’s “I Heart Huckabees” with the film’s director, David O. Russell.
He directed 2014’s Life After Beth,” 2017’s “The Little Hours” and 2022’s “Spin Me Round,” which all starred his wife, actress Aubrey Plaza of “Parks and Recreation” fame. They married in 2021.
Plaza is scheduled to be a presenter at Sunday’s Golden Globe Awards in Beverly Hills.
