“The Wild Robot,” the story of a robot who gets shipwrecked on a deserted island and befriends the local wildlife, will take a leading 10 nominations into Saturday evening’s presentation of the 52nd Annie Awards, recognizing the best in animation from the past year.

Pixar’s box-office hit “Inside Out 2” and “Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl” both have seven nominations.

All three films are nominated in the top category of best animated feature film, along with “Kung Fu Panda 4,” “That Christmas” and “Ultraman: Rising.”

For independent animated features, nominees are “Chicken for Linda!,” “Flow,” “Kensuke’s Kingdom,” “Look Back,” “Mars Express” and “Memoir of a Snail.”

On the small screen, competing in the best “mature” animated program category will be “Bob’s Burgers,” “Solar Opposites,” “South Park,” “The Great North” and “The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy.”

Nominated for children’s television programs are “Gremlins: The Wild Batch,” “Jurassic World: Chaos Theory,” “Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur,” “Primos” and “WondLa.”

The awards will be presented Saturday at UCLA’s Royce Hall.

The ceremony will also include the presentation of several “Juried Awards.” The Winsor McCay Award for lifetime or career contributions to the medium will be presented to three recipients — Aaron Blaise, a longtime Disney animator/director; the late Eunice Macauley, who was a National Film Board of Canada writer, director and producer; and Normand Roger, a National Film Board of Canada composer and sound designer.

The June Foray Award for “significant and benevolent impact” will be presented to the nonprofit Women in Animation for its advocacy of gender equity in the industry. The Ub Iwerks Award for technical achievement will be presented to Alberto Menache, who “contributed founding technology to performance capture, virtual production and more.”

A Special Achievement Award will recognize Pete Docter and Don Peri’s new book, “Directing at Disney — The Original Directors of Walt’s Animated Films.”
