The Hollywood satire “The Substance” and its star Demi Moore were among the big winners announced Thursday for the Dorian Film Awards presented by GALECA: The Society of LGBTQ Entertainment Critics.
“The Substance” earned five awards, including film of the year, genre film of the year and a best director prize for Coralie Fargeat. The film also won for “campiest flick.” Moore won the prize for film performance of the year.
Moore was also named the recipient of the group’s Timeless Star career achievement award, which honors “an exemplary career marked by character, wisdom and wit.” Past winners include Jodie Foster, Jane Fonda, Nathan Lane, John Waters, Rita Moreno, George Takei and Sir Ian McKellen.
“Wicked” also received multiple honors, with Ariana Grande winning for supporting film performance of the year, Cynthia Erivo receiving the LGBTQIA+ Film Trailblazer award, and Jonathan Bailey being named Rising Star.
