A man who said he was among three people injured in a 2020 automobile accident in Brentwood allegedly caused by a son of actor and former Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has dropped his part of the case.

The accident occurred Oct. 30, 2020. Gad Kakanyisa, 55, was driving the second car allegedly struck by a son of the actor, Christopher Schwarzenegger. On Monday, Kakanyisa’s attorney filed court papers with Judge Lisa Jaskol asking that his client’s case be dismissed “with prejudice,” meaning it cannot be refiled.

The court papers do not indicate whether a settlement was reached or if Kakanyisa is not pursuing the case for other reasons. His case was previously consolidated with that of the other two accident victims, Maryam Pirian and Manouchehr Pirian, who dropped their part of the lawsuit in October 2023, again without stating why they were not proceeding to trial.

All three plaintiffs named both Schwarzeneggers and the actor’s company, Oak Productions Inc., as defendants.

The Pirians, both now 80, said they were driving south on Carmelina Avenue at Sunset Boulevard when Christopher Schwarzenegger’s vehicle collided with theirs. Kakanyisa’s car was subsequently struck, the suit stated.
