“One Battle After Another,” “Sinners” and “Frankenstein” were among the big motion pictures winners at the 13th annual Make-Up Artists & Hair Stylists Guild Awards.
Among the television entries, “The Studio,” “Palm Royale” and “Stranger Things: Season 5” came out on top during the Saturday ceremony at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel, which was hosted by actress-comedian Rachael Harris.
Special awards were presented to Academy Award nominated actress Amy Madigan, who received the Distinguished Artisan Award for her award-winning work in film, television and theater and make up artist Michael Johnston, who was honored with the Vanguard Award for his pioneering work in children’s and teen television programming across multiple shows on the Nickelodeon network
Lifetime Achievement Awards were presented to make up artist Greg Nelson, known for his work on movies including “Raging Bull,” “Death Becomes Her” and Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” and hairstylist Judy Alexander Cory, whose 60-year career spans Elvis Presley’s 1967 film “Clambake” to more recent movies including “The Matrix,” “Forrest Gump” and “Meet the Fockers.”
The Make-Up Artists and Hair Stylists Guild was chartered in 1937 and has more than 2,300 members working in motion pictures, television, commercials, music videos, theme parks, and live theater.
Its annual awards recognize outstanding achievement in make-up and hair styling across motion pictures, television, music videos, and live theater.
