A wide-ranging collection of rare memorabilia tied to legendary Hollywood producer and music impresario Jerry Weintraub — spanning film, television, music and sports — will be unveiled Tuesday in Gardena during a public preview ahead of a two-day auction next month.
The preview, scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday at Julien’s Studios, 13007 S. Western Ave., will offer a first look at highlights from “Jerry Weintraub, the Consummate Producer,” an auction set for May 5 and May 6 in partnership with Turner Classic Movies.
Organizers said the collection reflects Weintraub’s decades-long career across multiple industries, with items ranging from Hollywood film props to music awards and personal artifacts from his Beverly Hills estate and Palm Springs home.
Among the highlights are pieces from the “Ocean’s” trilogy, including cast-signed scripts, casino tables and gaming props, along with a Faberge egg, a remote-control monster truck and an 18-karat gold Cartier ring used in the films. Director’s chairs and clapper boards from the productions are also included.
Items tied to the television film “Behind the Candelabra” include a Golden Globe Award and costumes worn by Michael Douglas as Liberace and Matt Damon as Scott Thorson.
From the 1998 film “The Avengers,” the sale features a Ralph Fiennes suit, bowler hat and umbrella, along with a staff prop used by Sean Connery.
Sports memorabilia in the collection includes Olympic figure skates worn by Dorothy Hamill, championship tennis rackets used by Jimmy Connors and Rod Laver, a 1984 Olympic torch and boxing gloves signed by Muhammad Ali.
Organizers said the auction also highlights Weintraub’s influence in the music industry, featuring gold and platinum record awards tied to artists such as Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, Bob Dylan, Neil Diamond and others.
Additional items include a signed “Nashville” script by director Robert Altman, a “Karate Kid II” jumpsuit, a signed Gibson acoustic guitar gifted by George Strait and a Bono-signed photographic print.
The collection also features letters and documents signed by former President George H.W. Bush.
Fine art works by Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol, Chen Yifei and Gaston Sebire, along with furniture and decorative pieces from Weintraub’s homes, will also be part of the sale, according to organizers.
Weintraub, who died in 2015, was known for his outsized influence across film and music, working with top artists and shaping major productions for decades.
