Two brothers of the late “Black Panther” actor Chadwick Boseman have formally filed a legal document asking that they replace the actor’s widow in the probate of the actor’s estate and that an attorney be named as the estate’s personal representative.
Kevin Boseman and Derrick Boseman brought the petition Wednesday with Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Stephanie C. Santoro. The brothers ask that lawyer and accountant Jason Rubin be appointed as the estate’s personal representative.
During a hearing the same day, Santoro ordered attorneys to “meet and confer in good faith to try and resolve the matter informally,” according to a minute order prepared by the judge’s clerk.
In July 2026, the siblings and their parents filed a separate petition asking the court to remove the actor’s widow, Taylor Simone Ledward, as the estate’s administrator. The brothers and the parents allege a lack of transparency by Ledward and allege she failed to fully distribute remaining assets and funds owed to Boseman’s parents.
A hearing on the brothers’ petition is scheduled Oct. 30. Ledward has denied the allegations and contends the brothers are trying to smear her.
Boseman died of colon cancer in Los Angeles at age 43 in August 2020.
