Filmmaker Michael Mann was slightly injured when he shot himself in the leg at a Los Angeles gun range, his representatives said Sunday.
The 83-year-old director of such films as “Heat” and “The Insider” was vising The Range LA at 11151 Missouri Ave. at about 4 p.m. Saturday when the accident took place, TMZ reported. The entertainment website said police and fire department personnel responded to the scene.
“On Saturday, at a gun range, a weapon accidentally discharged while holstered resulting in a superficial injury to film director Michael Mann. He was treated and is being released,” his representatives said.
Mann, who also served as executive producer of the hit 1980s television show “Miami Vice,” has been a target shooter for decades.
