A ticket with five numbers, but missing the Powerball number, for Wednesday’s multi-state Powerball lottery drawing was sold in California.
The location of where the ticket was sold and its worth were not announced.
There were four other tickets sold with five numbers, but missing the Powerball number, the Multi-State Lottery Association, which conducts the game, announced. One ticket each was sold in Arizona, Florida, Kentucky and Missouri and are each worth $1 million,
California law requires major payoffs of lottery games to be paid on a pari-mutuel basis.
A Match 5 Winners Power Play ticket was sold in Georgia and is worth $2 million.
There were no tickets sold with all six numbers and the estimated jackpot for Saturday’s drawing is expected to grow to $196 million.
The numbers drawn tonight were 18, 25, 36, 48, 50 and the Powerball number was 23. The estimated jackpot was $171 million
The drawing was the 11th since the last time a ticket with all six numbers was sold.
The odds of matching all five numbers and the Powerball number is 1 in 175,223,510, according to the Powerball website. The overall chance of winning a prize is 1 in 31.85.
The Powerball game is played in 43 states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
