A ticket with all six numbers in Wednesday’s multi- state Powerball lottery drawing was sold in a market in San Mateo and is worth $225 million.
One ticket with five numbers, but missing the Powerball number, was sold at a convenience store in Fresno and is worth $1,264,341, the Multi-State Lottery Association, which conducts the game, announced.
California law requires major payoffs of lottery games to be paid on a pari-mutuel basis.
The numbers drawn were 7, 14, 21, 24, 41 and the Powerball number was 26.
The drawing was the 13th since the last time a ticket with all six numbers was sold.
The jackpot for Saturday’s game will be $40 million.
The odds of matching all five numbers and the Powerball number is 1 in 175,223,510, according to the Powerball website. The overall chance of winning a prize is 1 in 31.85.
The Powerball game is played in 43 states, the District of Columbia and U.S. Virgin Islands.
