A section the the northbound Golden State (5) Freeway will be closed north of the Burbank Airport late Monday, Caltrans officials warned.
The closure will also affect the northbound Hollywood (170) Freeway at its northern end, where 170 merges onto the 5.
Final stages of the carpool lane construction project at the 5/170 interchange will require closure of the northbound 5 just before midnight tMonday, with a reopening planned by 5 a.m. Tuesday.
The closure zone will stretch from Lankershim Boulevard north, past the 170 merge, to Paxson Street. Southbound 5 traffic will not be affected, and traffic may enter the 5 Freeway from the Reagan (118) and San Diego (405) freeways as normal.
No construction work will be done on the freeways starting Christmas Eve and including Dec. 26.
