A $1 million grant from the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation will enable KCRW to create a multi-year documentary and reporting series on issues of importance to Angelenos on the fringes of society, the public radio station announced Tuesday.

“You’ll begin to hear our new coverage later this year,” said Jennifer Ferro, KCRW’s general manager. “I can’t begin to tell you how proud I am of all the hard and amazing work of our talented editorial staff, our Independent Producer Project, our news department and producers.”

The grant was foundation’s largest for public media, according to KCRW.
