Fox announced its first-run summer programming will include the return of the game show “Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?” and the 10-episode “event series” “Wayward Pines,” whose producers include the Oscar-nominated film director M. Night Shyamalan.

The first original episode of “Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?” on Fox since 2009 will air on May 26, and like the original, will be hosted by Jeff Foxworthy.

“Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?” where contestants field questions on information from fifth grade textbooks and lower, ran on Fox from 2007- 2009 and in syndication from 2009-2011.

“Wayward Pines” stars Matt Dillon as a Secret Service agent on a mission to find two missing federal agents, whose investigation only turns up more questions. It will premiere on May 14 on both Fox and in more than 125 nations in what the network called “the world’s largest day-and-date launch for a scripted series.”

Fox’s other new summer series is the game show “Boom!” described by the network as a general knowledge quiz where contestants failing to answer correctly or running out of time will be “showered with anything from ‘guacamole’ to ‘mashed potatoes.” “Boom” will premiere June 25 and be hosted by comedian Tom Papa.

Fox’s summer programming will also include new seasons of the cooking series “MasterChef” and “Hell’s Kitchen,” whose season premieres will be on May 20 and May 26, and the dance competition “So You Think You Can Dance,” whose 12th season will begin on June 1 with new judges Paula Abdul and Jason Derulo.
