The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped Thursday for the 28th consecutive day, decreasing nine-tenths of a cent to $3.223.
The average price has dropped 31.4 cents over the past 28 days, including 1.4 cents on Wednesday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It rose $1.078 during a 34-day streak of increases immediately preceding the current run of price drops.
The average price is 5.8 cents less than one week ago, 29 cents lower than one month ago and 85.4 cents below what it was one year ago.
The Orange County average price also dropped for the 28th consecutive day Thursday, decreasing 1.2 cents to $3.18. It is 6.5 cents less than one week ago, 31.2 cents lower than one month ago and 87.6 cents below what it was one year ago.
The Orange County average price has dropped 34.2 cents over the past 28 days, including 1.1 cents on Wednesday. It rose $1.09 during a 33-day streak of increases that ended one day before the current streak of declines began.
The dropping pump prices are the result of stabilized wholesale gasoline prices and dropping oil prices, according to Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s corporate communications manager.
