Metro’s Gold Line through South Pasadena was experiencing delays Thursday so repairs could be made on a damaged overhead wire.
The rail service was interrupted early this morning when repair work began, and bus shuttles were brought in to ferry passengers between the Gold Line’s South Pasadena and Museum stations.
About 8 a.m., a single track was opened in the area, and rail service was resumed, but with delays of up to 20 minutes expected, said Metro’s Anna Chen.
Commuters who usually take the Gold Line should allow extra travel time or make alternate arrangements. The repairs also affected vehicle traffic, which was routed away from the intersection of Monterey Road and Pasadena Avenue.
By late afternoon, the 20-minute delays and single-tracking were continuing between the Highland Park and Fillmore stations. North of the Fillmore station, additional trains were operating with 10-minute service, meaning every other southbound train was ending at the Fillmore Station, where passengers must disembark and wait 10 minutes to continue their journey toward downtown Los Angeles.
Metro was also operating a shuttle bus from Union Station to the Chinatown Station, then moving to the Fillmore Station and other stations to the north.
Repairs were expected to continue throughout the evening, with regular service expected to resume Friday morning.
