In an annual sign that summer is approaching, Los Angeles County’s free Beach Shuttle, which carries passengers from Playa Vista, around Marina del Rey and to the Washington Boulevard pier will begin operating Friday.

The shuttle will operate from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sundays through Sept. 27. It will also operate on holidays and selected Thursdays for the Marina del Rey summer concerts.

The shuttles begin at Playa Vista and take a circuitous route to transport passengers to Fisherman’s Village, Mothers Beach and the Washington Pier.

Shuttles run approximately every 30 minutes, except for a one-hour break between 3:15 and 4:15 p.m.

The Marina del Rey WaterBus will begin operating June 18, continuing its weekend service until Sept. 7.
