Some motorists in the Santa Clarita area will be dealing with some hefty traffic delays this week as Caltrans continues a freeway-paving project that will shut down various lanes of the Antelope Valley (14) Freeway.

Through Friday, up to four lanes of the northbound 14 Freeway will be closed between the Golden State (5) Freeway and Sand Canyon Road from 7 p.m. to 3 p.m. the following day. On- and off-ramps at Sierra Highway and Sand Canyon will be closed from 6 p.m. to 3 p.m., and the connector ramp from the northbound 5 Freeway will be closed from 7 p.m. to 2 p.m., according to Caltrans.

On the southbound side, up to four lanes will be closed between Sand Canyon and the 5 Freeway from 6 p.m. to 5 a.m. The Sand Canyon and Sierra Highway ramps will be closed from 5 p.m. to 5 a.m., and the connector to the southbound 5 will be closed from 11 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Beginning at 7 p.m. Friday, as many as four northbound lanes between the 5 Freeway and San Canyon will be closed for as long as 24 hours. Lane closures in the same stretch will be closed on the southbound side from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m., according to Caltrans. The Sierra Highway and San Canyon ramps will be closed on the northbound side from 6 p.m. Friday to 7 p.m. Saturday. The connector from the northbound 5 will be closed from 7 p.m. Friday to 2 p.m. Saturday.

The Sand Canyon and Sierra Highway ramps will closed from 5 p.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Saturday.
