Half of the Santa Ana (5) Freeway between Los Angeles and the Santa Ana area reopened for traffic, as Caltrans crews replaced the deck on a 60-year-old freeway bridge.
The 5 Freeway had been closed most of the weekend for the work.
The northbound 5 Freeway reopened at 7:20 a.m. Sunday, and southbound traffic was to reopen “soon,” Caltrans officials said at 8:30 a.m..
The bridge is over the Rio Hondo, between Slauson Avenue and Paramount Boulevard, about 15 miles southeast of Los Angeles.
