An 84-year-old woman with dementia, who went missing southeast of Palmdale, was found Friday under a bush not far from her home by a search volunteer.
Elisa Garza Alcocer of Llano, who had last been seen by her husband on Tuesday morning, was in fair condition despite the harsh desert conditions, said Deputy Lisa Jansen of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.
Alcocer was reunited with her husband, then taken to a hospital to be checked out, Jansen said.
She was found about 2:40 p.m. about a mile from her home by Richard Thompson, a Palmdale resident who had volunteered to join the search effort.
Thompson found the woman as a ground and air search coordinated by sheriff’s homicide detectives was about to begin, Jansen said.
