A motorist struck and killed by a SUV Monday on the northbound San Diego (405) Freeway in Lawndale was identified Tuesday as a 32- year-old Hawthorne resident.
Steve Lopez Galindo was crossing the northbound lanes, apparently to enter the carpool lane, when his vehicle was struck by a 2007 Chevrolet Suburban at Hawthorne Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Galindo was declared dead within minutes of the crash, which occurred shortly before 11 a.m.
The driver of the Suburban, identified as Marisol Herrera, 39, of Wilmington, was unhurt.
