The Broad’s first special exhibition will feature four decades of works by photographer Cindy Sherman, the museum announced Wednesday.

“Cindy Sherman: Imitation of Life,” which will run from June 11 to Oct. 2, is the first major museum exhibit of Sherman’s works in nearly two decades in Los Angeles.

Sherman is known for exploring popular film and celebrity culture, usually through images of the artist assuming a variety of personas.

Photos for the exhibition, selected by former Museum of Contemporary Art curator Philipp Kaiser, include some recent pieces and several of her well- known photographic series, including film stills, centerfolds and clown pictures.

“Office Killer,” a 1997 film directed by Sherman, will also be part of the exhibit.

Admission to the special exhibit will be $12 for adults and free for visitors 17 years and younger. The museum’s permanent collection on the third floor and Yayoi Kusama’s “Infinity Mirrored Room” will remain free to visit.

The Broad opened last September to showcase the contemporary art collection of billionaire businessman Eli Broad and his wife Edythe.
