A recently opened attraction at the Los Angeles Zoo allows small groups of visitors to view a hippo family up close during the weekends and on holidays, zoo officials said Friday.
The “Hippo Encounter” gives groups of up to 15 people the ability to observe Rosie, a 15-month-old hippo, and her mother, Mara, at close range as zoo keepers feed and care for them.
The 20-minute visit also includes an opportunity to touch the hippos and take a photo with them. Only adults and children 4 and up will be admitted.
Tickets for the exhibit is $15 per person on top of the zoo’s general admission price. Due to the popularity of the exhibit, advance purchase is recommended.
Tickets are on sale on-site and on the Web.
