Firefighters in Encino fished out four people and three others were able to free themselves from being stranded Sunday at multiple sites along the Los Angeles River in the Sepulveda Basin.
Firefighters were dispatched at 5:17 a.m. to the 6100 block Balboa Boulevard on a report of at least three people — including one large dog — being stranded in the Los Angeles River, according to Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
By 6:40 a.m., firefighters rescued four people and three others were able to make their way free, as crews continued to clear a homeless encampment from a multiple sites long a section of the Los Angeles River in the Sepulveda Basin, said Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
No injuries were reported.
