A 75-year-old Mission Viejo man has been sentenced to six years in prison for strangling his wife in their home, a prosecutor said Friday.
Gary Lee Parsons accepted a plea deal on Thursday from prosecutors that dropped a murder charge in exchange for voluntary manslaughter, according to Senior Deputy District Attorney Keith Burke.
Parsons killed his 73-year-old wife, Barbara, on Feb. 3, 2015, Burke said. The two had gotten into an argument that turned physical and he killed her in the heat of passion, Burke said.
The killing was in the couple’s home in the 27000 block of Pueblonuevo Drive.
