Passengers on the Blue Line to and from Long Beach experienced delays Saturday due to a power outage, according to L.A. Metro officials.
The Long Beach Fire Department responded to reports of smoke coming from a traction power substation at the Blue Line’s Willow station at about 10:45 a.m., according to Metro spokesman Rick Jager. There were no visible signs of fire and no injuries reported, but power was lost, causing trains to stop running between the Del Amo station and the Long Beach Transit Mall downtown.
Buses shuttled passengers to and from the Transit Mall for the next few hours, creating a delay of up to 25 minutes.
Service was fully restored at about 2 p.m., according to Jager, who added that Metro and LBFD workers were still at the Willow substation trying to determine what caused the outage.
