Twenty people were recovering Sunday from a fun day in the park that turned into a nightmare when they were attacked by a swarm of angry bees at Cerritos Regional Park.
It wasn’t clear what caused the bees to leave their hives and attack the people on an otherwise peaceful holiday weekend.
The swarm was reported at 5 p.m. Saturday at the park at 19700 Bloomfield Ave., said Los Angeles County Fire Department Dispatch Supervisor Kyle Sanford.
Ambulances with red lights and sirens soon arrived to shatter the park’s atmosphere. Three of the 20 were taken to hospitals, Sanford said.
