Metro Expo Line Train

Another round of maintenance work will again disrupt service on the Metro Expo Line this weekend, with bus shuttles replacing trains on a stretch of the line in West Los Angeles and Santa Monica.

The work will begin at 9 p.m. Friday and continue through Sunday, with no trains running between the Expo/Sepulveda and Downtown Santa Monica stations.

Normal service will resume Monday morning.

The contractor that built the Expo Line extension from Culver City to Santa Monica — Skanska/Rados Joint Venture — has one year to fix items on the line that require repair or replacement. In order for the work to be done safely, overhead wires that deliver electricity to trains must be powered down, Metro said.

Among the repairs being conducted will be replacing and relocating closed-circuit TV cameras near overhead wires, adjusting power cable counterweights and performing localized track work.
